Our posture is the foundation from which we move. And it’s been proven that intelligent movement cultivates harmony and balance in our lives, as well as our bodies. So, that makes posture and intelligent movement a really big deal!
If our foundation is not strong and well aligned to withstand the challenges of gravity and life (that’s great posture) then we are setting ourselves up for injuries,
pain and possibly unwanted surgeries. What may start out as less than optimum posture born of repetitive movement from sports, occupation or just fatigue can show up as tight or weak muscles, worn down cartilage, damaged joints and/or PAIN. Often unknowingly, we compensate in our movement patterns to alleviate discomfort and make it worse. We keep feeding the monster.

The good news is that we have tools available to us to prevent or pre-hab, or maybe rehab or even reverse inefficient postural and movement patterns that do not just get better on their own. It takes awareness, wanting to make positive changes and it feels fantastic and empowering!
Begin now by noticing how you are sitting or standing. Is your weight evenly distributed through both feet, or sit bones—if you are sitting. Are you feeling length throughout the length of your spine? Reaching tall through the crown of your head? Now, breathe out deeply and feel that abdominal connection that helps support you.
